Schools’ Starting Date Has Been Annouced

Just now, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education announced:


1. The third grades in high school and junior high school will start on April 13.


2. The other grades of middle school and fourth to sixth grade of primary school will start after April 20, the first to third grade of primary school will start after April 26, and kindergarten will start after May 6 depending on the situation. The specific time of these semesters will be determined and announced later on by the epidemic prevention and control center in each district and city.


3. Colleges and universities will be ready to start at the beginning of April, the specific time will be notified separately.


4. Teachers and students who are temporarily unable to return to school due to the epidemic or other reasons are allowed to defer to return to school. Foreign students and foreign teachers who are still overseas will not return to school for the time being.


5. All kinds of off-campus training institutions can only resume offline training after pass the inspection and epidemic prevention conditions; offline training for primary and middle school students cannot be carried out earlier than one week after the start of all local primary and secondary schools.



National Mourning COVID-19 Victims on April 4

China will hold a national mourning Saturday (April 4) for martyrs who died in the fight against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, according to the State Council.


During the commemoration, national flags will fly at half-mast across the country and in all Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, and public recreational activities will be suspended across the country.


At 10am Saturday, Chinese people nationwide will observe three minutes of silence to mourn for the diseased, while air raid sirens and horns of automobiles, trains and ships will wail in grief.



A Chinese Man Has Been Sentenced to More Than A Year in Prison For Lying About His Travel History

Chinese authorities have sentenced a man to 18 months in prison after he was found guilty of lying about traveling to northern Italy, where thousands of people have been infected by the novel coronavirus.

The 29-year-old man, surnamed Guo, flew from Beijing to Milan on March 1 and returned to China on March 7, according to the country's Ministry of Public Security.


He took a train to his hometown of Zhengzhou, in Henan province, that same day, and then took the subway to work on March 8 and March 9.


Local police quickly found out about his travel history. On March 11, Guo was charged with obstructing the prevention of infectious diseases.


Guo was confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus, and more than 40 close contacts were placed in quarantine.
